Overview

The construction of the Kenwick rail freight facility is part of Perth’s new freight and passenger rail networks. The new facility will enable the rail freight operator to move from the existing facility at Bellevue, freeing up this site for the development of a future PTA railcar depot.

Scope

The scope of our contract included:

  • Upgrade of pits to ensure weight allowance was met for reach stackers;
  • Ensure quality Class Z internal finish was met;
  • Ensure work was carried out safely in restricted access;
  • Ensure work was carried out on schedule; and
  • Liaise and work effectively with Earthworks company.

Challenges

During the project execution we were faced with the following site- specific challenges:

  • Restricted access and working at height;
  • Inclement weather on open excavations; and
  • Large pipe penetrations on small pits.
